Kumar, ten Hoopen & Associates
Our mission is to help western companies make the most of India's potential, and Indian firms to operate effectively in the western business environment.
We are here to help you find your way
India, the emerging superpower, invites you
India is in the midst of a major economic transformation that is predicted to make it the world's third largest economy by 2035. Growth rates of 8-9% per annum, a sizable and a rapidly growing middle class, a democratic polity, the the deepening of economic reforms, the rapid growth of the information technology sector, have all propelled India to be a major player on the world's economic and political stage.
India's rise was initially propelled by the rapid growth of the IT sector, but by now the country is much more than simply an outsourcing destination. A BRIC member India, is emerging as a major economic force in its own right and Indian companies are displaying a maturity not seen much in the early part of the liberalization phase. Indian concerns are now actively engaged in overseas acquisitions on all continents.
At the same time that Indian companies are branching out across Asia, Europe and the US, many global firms are seeking to strengthen their presence in India. India offers a wide array of opportunities in infrastructure development, health care and banking and a consumer market already encompassing hundreds of millions that multinational firms are actively helping to expand and mature, while securing themselves market share in what may still be seen as an early stage of India's development as an economic giant.
A world of opportunity - for the well prepared
Although the Indian market has tremendous potential, such a potential needs to be accessed in the right way. India is a country whose development has been shaped by its cultural traditions, the imprint of British colonialism, and a socialistic legacy that was nurtured by India's close ties with the Soviet Union during the cold war era. There are many contradictions and/or inconsistencies on display in India and how one navigates them largely determines how successful the foreign firm is going to be in the Indian institutional and social context. It is very easy to offend, and ruin one's chances - but equally easy to befriend and open a world of opportunity.
Our aim is to help you to become aware of your own basic assumptions and show how they may prove to be unworkable in the Indian context. We will also acquaint you with Indian basic assumptions, so that you may be alert to them, laying a proper foundation for your relationship building efforts. In India, 'nothing ever works', or 'everything is possible'. The difference is up to you, and your degree of preparation. This is where Kumar, Ten Hoopen & Associates can make a crucial difference.
Commitment is the key to treasure
Kumar, Ten Hoopen & Associates helps your organization make the most of India by providing your key people with a framework of cultural understanding, conducting seminars for the managers in your organization who are or will be in frequent contact with Indians, either abroad or in the home country, running expat workshops, and by individual coaching of senior executives. Though we have established formats, all seminar and workshops are tailored to specific client needs. All bring home strongly that commitment is the key to unlock the potential of India.
